Competitions

A competition is not a separate system.

Today it touches an entry sheet, the tee sheet, the handicap system, a card printer, a spreadsheet, the sweep tin and a noticeboard. The competition itself never moves, only the seven places somebody has to carry it to.

Questions

Asked by secretaries.

Do members enter competitions themselves?

Yes. A competition is posted to the app, entries open, and the entry is the tee time, so nothing is copied from a paper sheet into the tee sheet afterwards.

Where do handicaps come from?

From the member record, read on the morning of play, rather than looked up in a separate system that may have moved since the cards were printed.

How is the sweep handled?

The entry is held against the member account and prizes are credited to it, so the sweep settles on the statement rather than in a tin that is counted later.
